My name is Finn McCool.
I am a gorgeous, playful black and white domestic longhair cat. Once I
know and trust you, I will ask you to play with me in the morning and again at night. During the
afternoon I like to nap while snuggling against you or just snooze in my favorite place, which
changes frequently. I like being brushed, too, and sometimes fall asleep on your lap when you
brush me. I really enjoy having my back patted just in front of my tail, too! If I’m awake, I’ll run
to greet you when you come home and wrap my long, plush tail around your leg to say hello.
I’m not one of those needy, clingy cats though – I know how to keep myself occupied watching
birds through the window and playing with my toys when you are at work or I just want some
alone time. And if you keep me supplied with cardboard scratching pads, I promise not to
sharpen my claws on the furniture!
I can be a rambunctious boy, and have been known to playfully nip hands that are
roughhousing with me, or jump out at legs from my hiding place when I’m in a playful mood. I
never scratch people, though, and I am not aggressive. In fact, I am much happier around quiet,
gentle adults than loud, noisy people. Children alarm me with their shrieks and grabbing at me,
so I often hide when they are around. I am curious about other cats and like to watch them
from the window, but I’ve always been the only cat in my house. I’ve never been around dogs,
either. I’ve always been an inside cat, and wouldn’t feel safe being outside unless I was in a
securely enclosed area like a screened porch, or sitting in my carrier on a balcony.
I’m just over 5 years old; my birthday is 11/18/2009. I was neutered before I was three months
old, and the Cat Tales Rescue people got me all my shots and took care of the infections I was
exposed to when I was living on the streets for the first couple months of my life. One of them
was herpes, which the vet said will stay in my body all my life, but my first family gave me
yummy Lysine treats that keep all the symptoms away except for a little weepiness in my left
eye. If you just wipe it once a day I am fine, and I am otherwise very healthy. I can overeat if
you let me, so I get measured food and treats to keep my weight in check. My first family made
sure I got annual vet checkups, and I am up to date on my FVRCP and rabies vaccinations. I also
tested negative for feline leukemia and since I am a solo indoor cat, my first family chose not to
vaccinate me. I have also been microchipped with a ResQ chip.
My first family loved me very much, and I loved them, but they are going to be traveling for the
next few years and I hate riding in cars. So they agreed to let me go to a new home where I can
enjoy what I do best – playing with my toys and people, looking out the window, snuggling on a
warm lap, and taking naps. Could you be my forever family?
Adoptions are at the Petco in Fairfield, 1370 Holiday Lane, on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and adoptions twice a month at the Petco in Novato. Because all of our cats are in foster homes, not all cats come to adoptions every weekend. If you are interested in a specific kitty, please contact us to make sure he/she will available for you to meet at catinfo@catalesrescue.org If you can't wait until then to meet any cat or kitten, contact catinfo@catalesrescue.org.
